Liturgy

“Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that a fully conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of liturgy. Such participation by the Christian people as ‘a chosen race, a royal priesthood, and holy nation, a redeemed people, is their right and duty by reason of their baptism”   (Sacrosanctunm Concilium 14)

We come to celebrate the Sunday Eucharist as one community, joined together in the Body of Christ. Liturgical  Ministers assist the Assembly in participating in the glorious celebration of Sunday Mass.

What are these Ministries?

Liturgy Team. Plans and coordinates the liturgical life of the parish.  Monthly and quarterly meetings as necessary. The team conducts planning for both long range and in-season liturgies, reviews and critiques past liturgies, and fosters liturgical formation within the parish.  The team interfaces with the parish staff liturgy group. This combination of lay and clergy functions well together and each provides a unique component to the overall liturgical balance of the parish.

Seasonal Mangers for Liturgy: Guided by the scripts for Sunday and the feast day liturgies, seasonal mangers attend to the countless details of set-up, implementation and clean up. Seasonal managers brief the liturgy team on the status of their assigned season well in advance of the season; they also provide critical analysis on how it went and what lessons learned are important.

Music.  Cantors, Jr. Cantors, Choir, Youth band, and Music preparation all combine to support this ministry. Please refer to he Music Ministries link.

Mass Captains: there is always one Mass captain assigned for each Mass.  This responsibility included accounting for all the ministers scheduled to participate, interfacing with the presider on specific details of the Mass, and ensuring that substitutes are clearly briefed on what is happening for the liturgy. See Mass captain link for a description of duties.

Lectors: Ministers to the assembly by proclaiming the Word of God at all Masses and Liturgies. Training and ongoing workshops are available. See Lector  link for a description of duties.

Eucharistic Ministers (Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion): Designated parishioners who assist with the distribution of Communion at Sunday Mass under both forms (bread and cup). Training and certification with commissioning held annually. Additional retreats and workshop are scheduled throughout the year.  Youth who have received Confirmation are eligible to serve.  See Eucharistic Minister Link  for a description of duties.

Ushers/Greeters: Ushers assist in seating parishioners, gathering the collection, facilitating the communion process and helping everyone to comfortably participate in the liturgies.  They also function to greet parishioners upon their arrival. See Usher/Greeters link for a description of duties.

Altar Servers: Altar servers assist Presider and serve at Eucharist.  Our parish is blessed to have a multi generational altar server community. We have adults, teens, junior high, and parent and children serving at our Masses. See Altar Server link for a description of duties.
