Religious Education Program
|
Educating children of the parish in values and truths of Catholic traditions. Preschool through 8th grade.
Religious Education Forms:
Volunteer Form 2007/08 and Volunteer Descriptions Preschool
Classes are held during the 9:00 am Mass at Our Lady of the Lake School. Our program follows the Discovery series, published by W.H. Sadlier. Classes are limited to 15 children. Parents take turns assisting in the classroom throughout the year. The Preschool classes follow the same schedule as the elementary grades. An orientation meeting for the parents is held after the first class in the fall. At that time, parents will receive a booklet listing the expectations, curriculum, and a schedule for the year. Elementary School
The Religious Education Program follows the Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines. In 2004 we adopted a new series of texts for 1st through 6th Grade, Faith First, published by Resources for Christian Learning (RCL). The series offers an excellent guide for students and catechists. RCL provides supplementary materials for parents online, which support the themes in the student book. The web site, www.faithfirst.com, offers online material to connect with Sunday liturgy, games for children of all ages, stories of saints, bible stories, spiritual growth resources, current issues, articles, catechist resources and much more. Parent involvement is the most important component
of our religious education Families who cannot participate in the parish program but wish to provide instruction in the home may contact the Program Director regarding available resources. Junior High School
