The Father's Heart Street Ministry Van - Saturday, December 28

Mercy Teams operates this outreach on the 4th Saturday of every month. We meet in the morning to cook a hot breakfast for about 50 homeless. We load the food into the van and drive to the primary location in Oregon City where we set up and serve a hot meal, coffee and hot chocolate. We hand out blankets, gloves, caps, hygiene kits and hand warmers.

Advent Giving Tree - December 1-December 18

This Advent, Our Lady of the Lake will again be support those most in need in our greater community through our Advent Giving Trees. We work in collaboration with community partners serving the poor in Multnomah and Clackamas counties:

  • JOIN supports the efforts of homeless individuals and families to transition into permanent housing. We collect new household items for these transitioning families.
  • St. Andre Bessette Parish in the heart of Old Town provides hope and healing to marginalized members of society. We collect new and gently-used items such as sleeping bags, boots, and coats for those living on the streets.
  • The Father’s Heart Street Ministry operates a day center in Oregon City, providing hot meals, showers, laundry, and a safe place to spend the day in community. We collect sleeping bags, tarps, boots, and warm clothing.
  • OLL volunteers support refugee families re-locating to and currently living in the Portland area through the Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement program. We collect gift cards to assist these families starting over in Oregon.

Take a tag from the tree located in the Narthex of the church or the one downstairs near the parish hall. Return your unwrapped gift to either tree by Wednesday, December 18. Consider sharing some joy with your neighbor in need!

Help is needed to transport the gifts given to the Parish Center where they await pick up as well as to help sort and fill the gifts into the receiving ministries vans.

  • Help transport the gifts to the Parish Center, Sundays, December 8 and 15 after Masses, sign up here.
  • Help sort and transport the gifts to the vans, Friday, December 20 at 1:30 PM, sign up here.
