Metanoia

“Every Catholic, no matter where we are in our faith journey, is invited to a deeper conversion. Metanoia is not a one-time event; rather, it is a continual process of turning away from the things of the world, from lies and sin and discovering a deeper union with Christ. This 10-part series featuring Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR, President of Franciscan University and founder of The Ministry of the Wild Goose, leads us on a journey with Christ into conversion. Each of the episodes explores areas of our life where conversion is so often necessary. Metanoia will examine topics such as who is Jesus, what must we do to inherit eternal life, and many other significant matters of faith. With preaching from Fr. Dave as well as personal testimonies from men and women, young and old, religious and lay, their stories will inspire you to seek to encounter Jesus and the new life he is constantly inviting us to.

Open for individual study.

The Bible in a Year

Ascension’s Bible in a Year Podcast, hosted by Fr. Mike Schmitz and featuring Jeff Cavins, guides Catholics through the Bible in 365 daily episodes. Each 20-25 minute episode includes 2-3 scripture readings, a reflection from Fr. Mike Schmitz, and a guided prayer to help you hear God’s voice in his Word. Unlike any other Bible podcast, Ascension’s Bible in a Year Podcast for Catholics follows a reading plan inspired by the Great Adventure Bible Timeline® learning system, a groundbreaking approach to understanding Salvation History developed by renowned Catholic Bible teacher Jeff Cavins. Tune in and live your daily life through the lens of God’s word!

  • Understand the essentials of the Catholic Faith and why they matter
  • See how Church teaching is rooted in Sacred Scripture
  • Absorb over 2,000 years of Sacred Tradition
  • Encounter God’s plan of sheer goodness
  • Transform their relationship with the Church that Christ founded.

Group Studies

Epic: A Journey Through Church History

“Epic: A Journey Through Church History” is a fascinating journey through our family history.  The history of the Catholic Church.  You will embark upon an overview throughout time demonstrating how God’s hand has guided the church through good times and through very tumultuous times.  Past participants have expressed how grateful they were to understand God’s hand and guidance while using frail humanity to share “The Good News.”

Led by Gege Rayburn. Begins September 28.

Vatican II Study

This study will take a closer look at the documents of Vatican II, using the new book, "Vatican II Collection," published by Word on Fire and endorsed by Bishop Robert Barron.

Hosted by Lillian. Begins October 5.

Awakening Faith

The family of Our Lady of the Lake desires to minister to the spiritual needs of our entire community. We invite our friends and family who are unfamiliar with the Catholic faith to ask questions and explore our beliefs and practices in an environment that is open for discussion. Catholics who have been away from the church and desire to come home and actively participate often have their own set of questions and concerns. We invite you to participate in "Awakening Faith" to join a group ready to walk the journey with you.

Led by Margaret Jamieson. To sign up, contact Margaret at 503-635-2915 or email her at maggieandmargaret@gmail.com.
