"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her to sanctify her." Ephesians 5:25

God designed marriage to be a source of great joy for husband and wife.  It is our hope at Our Lady of the Lake that we can help the couples in our parish experience this joy in their marriage by opening themselves to His abundant grace as they strive daily to grow in grace and virtue.

Engagement & Marriage Prep

First of all, pray and discern if you are ready for this life-long decision to share life together.  It's recommended to take a full 9 months to prepare for your marriage, as research shows this increases your chance for a life-long marriage.

Next, delay reserving venues for receptions/dinners until you have contacted a parish priest to discuss your engagement and wedding. Not all dates at the church may be available due to parish events or other conflicts.

Getting Married at OLL

When can we get married?

Weddings are scheduled for Saturdays at 1:30 PM and rehearsals the evening before at 5:00 PM. OLL does not rent the parish hall for rehearsal dinners or wedding receptions. Photographers, musicians, and/or bridal consultants need to confer with our Parish Wedding Coordinator regarding all plans.

What does it cost to get married in the Catholic Church?

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (#2121), receving the Sacrament of Matrimony is not for sale. However, it is appropriate to contribute to the support of the parish staff who will spend time preparing for your day and the physical upkeep of the church building. Financial circumstances should not prevent a couple from getting married at OLL.

Cost at OLL

  • One of the individuals in the couple, or their parents, must be registered parishioners or live within the parish boundaries.
  • The amount for 2022 is $700 which secures the wedding date, use of facility, and process of paperwork.
  • The wedding date will not be reserved until the $700 has been paid in full.
    • $350 is refundable due to cancellation.
    • A date may be changed if available with no forfeiture of funds.
  • Musician: Accompanist/organist, cantor, and other musician fees can be discussed when the couple meets with the music coordinator.
  • Celebrant: The services of the priest or deacon are free, but it is customary to offer a stipend of your choosing.

Initial Paperwork

Please bring the bride and groom paperwork completed when you meet with the Deacon or Priest for the first time.
