Pentecost: Responding to Christ in Mission
The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again,
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
~ John 20:20-22 ~
On Pentecost we heard St. John’s account of Jesus’ appearance to the first disciples and sending them forth with the gift of the Holy Spirit. As Christian disciples, how do we share Jesus’ message of peace in these current times? Our world has experienced great suffering and upheaval during this pandemic. We look forward to new opportunities to take Christ’s message of salvation to the ends of the earth.
We proclaim the Good News by SERVING and GIVING. The Holy Spirit has given each one of us a unique set of gifts and abilities. St. Paul reminds us that “there are different spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit; and different forms of service, but the same Lord” (1 Corinthians 12:4-5). How might you use your talents and time to further the mission in these areas of our OLL parish life as we emerge from pandemic restrictions?
