About Child & Family Faith Formation

At Our Lady of the Lake, we love our children! The goal of Child & Family Faith Formation is to offer activities and programs that grow the faith of our children (infant-5th grade). Our programs help encourage children to make Jesus the center of their lives. These programs include Life Kids, Children's Liturgy of the Word, Nursery, and Vacation Bible School. We also provide family-based programming and events throughout the year.

Upcoming Events:

Family Friendly

Stations of the Cross

Friday, March 1st at 6pm

Our Lady of the Lake prays the Stations of the Cross at 6pm on every Friday during Lent. On Friday, March 1st, the Stations will be led by children and youth, and the speakers at the soup supper will be teens from our parish. All families are welcome. We hope to see you there!

Lenten Family Volunteer Opportunity

Fridays in Lent

Families are invited to help prepare our Friday Lenten Soup Suppers (held after Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings). Stations of the Cross start at 6pm, and then everyone comes down to the parish hall around 6:45pm for a soup supper and to listen to that week's speaker. The night concludes about 7:30pm.

Ongoing Programs:

Nursery - Now Open!

The Nursery is welcoming children on Sundays from 8:45am to 12:15pm, where we will offer adults attending Mass the opportunity to focus more on the liturgy while welcoming the little ones to spiritual nourishment in the nursery. There, loving guides will lead the toddlers in Christian songs, storybook reading, crafts, and prayer.

Parents of children attending this program are encouraged to volunteer for a shift.

Children's Faith Formation

Life Kids, our in-person children's faith formation program, begins this Sunday, Oct. 1st for children in Pre-Kindergarten (4 yrs) through Fifth Grade.

Registration is now closed. Please contact our team for more information.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is an ongoing program occurring during 9am Masses. Before the First Reading, teachers gather and escort the children downstairs. During this 20 minute program they hear Scripture explained in ways that they can grasp. Their learning continues through song and craft activities. After the Prayers of the Faithful, the teachers guide them back to the Mass to rejoin their families.

This program has proven popular, and we would like to extend it to the 11:15am Mass, but we need more volunteer instructors. Please pray that this need be filled.

Upcoming Programs:

Vacation Bible School

Looking ahead: VBS 2024's theme will be "Stellar: Shine Jesus' Light" and the dates are June 24-28, 2024. Mark your calendars! Registration will open on Friday, April 5th at 8am.

We rely on our many volunteers to make this program a success. If you're interested in helping out next summer, contact our coordinators.

Additional Resources for Faith in the Home

We believe that faith begins in the home. Families are encouraged to eat, pray, and share their faith together. For parents interested in creating or improving their family-based faith practices, below are two additional resources aimed at nurturing faith in your family and establishing the tradition of reading the Bible with your children.
