Parent Involvement

Parental involvement is hugely important to the success of the Confirmation Prep program. Our youth minister will provide more information on opportunities for parental involvement in the coming weeks. If you're interested in knowing more, contact Luke at

What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is the third Sacrament of initiation for Catholics, following Baptism and First Communion. Often misunderstood as a kind of “Catholic graduation,” Confirmation marks the individual’s new journey into the faith, where they will receive more fully the Holy Spirit and become an active "warrior" for Jesus Christ and the Gospel. Our Confirmation program is now open for 7th graders and up. We want our youth to understand the beliefs of the Church, make an informed decision to remain Catholic, and commit themselves to an ongoing relationship with Jesus.

Confirmation at Our Lady of the Lake

We are always striving to improve our program, so this year, things are a little different. The Confirmation journey will be very holistic, designed to immerse each individual into a deeper engagement with Catholicism. The goal is to help our young people embrace their faith as their own, and to begin participating in the Church in a fuller way. Our program therefore includes Mass, lunch, community-building, games, service, teaching, prayer, and peer discussions. There will be plenty of education, but organized in a way that seeks to transform the heart as well as inform the mind. There will also be opportunities to involve the whole family, because we know that lasting faith is cultivated primarily in the home. We are very excited to have you join us!
