First Sacraments

Reconciliation and Holy Communion

For Children 2nd Grade and Older

Our parish supports families to prepare their children (2nd Grade and older) to celebrate their First Reconciliation and First Communion.

This year (2022), we offer a comprehensive program called Signs of Grace that engages parents and children to grow in their faith as a family. Using a self-guided menu of activities, parents teach 15 weekly lessons at home (one hour each) to prepare their children for both sacraments. Signs of Grace has consistently been praised by both parish and school families, who have gained a deeper understanding of the sacraments while spending personal time together.

The parish also offers parent orientations, church tours, and practice sessions for each sacrament. First Reconciliation is completed by December and First Communion in May.

Families participating in the preparation are to be practicing Catholics and their children are to have been baptized in a Catholic church.

Children not enrolled in OLL School are required to register by September 15.

Children should be in 2nd grade or older to register.
